QuickBooks Desktop Sunsetting – Service Discontinuation

Hello QuickBooks 2024

Each year, Intuit retires a version of QuickBooks Desktop, typically the version released 3 years in the past.

When does service discontinuation happen and what does it mean?

After May 31 of the current year, your 3 year or older QuickBooks Desktop software will be discontinued. This includes QuickBooks Desktop Pro, QuickBooks Desktop Premier, QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions that is not on an active annual subscription. Other Intuit online and connected services are affected by the software discontinuation, such as online backups, payroll, online banking, QuickBooks payments, emailing from QuickBooks, etc.

Discontinued versions don’t receive the latest critical security patches and updates.

Add-backs are expenses a business incurs, but a new owner likely wouldn’t. Think personal perks, one-time costs, or services the business won’t need going forward. When we identify valid add-backs, we remove them from the expense column and add them back to the company’s cash flow, which more accurately reflects the value of the business.
fractional worker
News, QuickBooks
I continue to run into folks that have never heard the term "Fractional CxO", or more specifically Fractional CMO, CTO, CIO, CFO, etc. A Fractional officer of this sort is someone who brings the value, experience, and capability to help at the highest levels, at a "Fraction" of the cost. That's tongue and cheek, but true. A Fractional officer is someone who does the job, but for only a Fraction of their billable hours in a week.

We have received numerous calls from QuickBooks desktop clients alarmed at the following "Warning" popup on their computer. The error message is FAKE, but needs to be removed. The message suggests calling Intuit support, but the number does NOT go to Intuit support. The suggested "troubleshooting" step also doesn't work. Please call us at VARC Solutions if you are seeing this popup, and we can manually remove the rogue application and background service that is causing it. 281-412-6914.
